The American transport industry is making a change enforcing new technology regulations.

The regulatory body, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), has introduced an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate, which will direct drivers away from logging their Hours Of Service (HOS) via paper logs.

The ELD change will see paper logging become a thing of the past as drivers will now be able to save time logging their HOS electronically through a smartphone or tablet device that meets compliance requirements.  The Mandate will take affect from December 2017.

So, what does this mean for your trucking fleet? How can MTData assist your fleet with meeting the ELD Mandate?

MTData has all the capabilities to help your fleet transition to ELD’s.

The ELD application will be available on our leading in-vehicle driver tablet solution, Talon; the ultimate connection between fleet managers and drivers.

Talon will record all the driver’s HOS through the integration of our tracking unit, which is connected to the trucks movements.

Drivers login and complete a successful pre-trip questionnaire as well as selecting their status, which include: Driver On-Duty, Off-Duty and/or On-Duty Not Driving.

In addition to Hours Of Service and the Electronic Logging Device, fleet managers can also review the driver’s behavior, monitoring speeding events, idling, harsh braking, cornering and acceleration.

There are many benefits to implementing ELD’s into your trucking fleet and these include, reducing fuel costs and paperwork, increasing driver communication, and letting drivers focus on driving not driver logs.

MTData is ready for this change, and is excited to offer the ELD application on our Talon tablet.

We aim to help drive your business forward and future-proof your fleet.

Our other solutions include advanced tracking, truck camera integration, mass management, job dispatch and sign-on glass that are all supported by Talon.
